Koh Rong NMP to have the Kingdom’s first beautiful green city on the island

The government is trying to expedite the ecotourism development of the Koh Rong National Marine Park (NMP), taking into consideration the need to safeguard coastal habitats such as coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove forest and the biodiversity.

The development to create a beautiful green  city on the island will be done in strict compliance with rules of the Ministry of Environment.

The Koh Rong NMP comprises of two communes namely Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem that houses about 100 families who work in the tourism sector for their livelihood.

Ministry of Environment deputy general director of General Directorate of Protected Areas Thay Chantha told Khmer Times during the Cross-Talk yesterday that the government has set up public service facilitation such as a school, a hospital, a market for the residents’ convenience.
