10 Years on Koh Rong: An Australian’s Journey of Tenacity and Paradise
Hello, I’m Brad King — an Australian who arrived on Koh Rong exactly ten years ago with one bold mission: to be the first to promote this untouched island paradise to the world and prove that Cambodia, its warm-hearted Khmer people, and Koh Rong itself are truly worthy of serious investment and an extraordinary lifestyle.
What started as a dream has become my life’s work. I’ve lived nearly every chapter of this island’s story — the golden times of crystal-clear waters, powder-white beaches, and a thriving community, and the incredibly tough times too. When COVID-19 hit, tourism vanished almost overnight. The island fell silent, and only a small handful of us expats remained. Many packed up and left. I stayed. Through isolation, uncertainty, and every challenge that came with it, I held on with sheer tenacity and an unshakable belief in Koh Rong’s future. Step by step, I built Koh Rong Property from the ground up. Established in 2016, we are now proudly celebrating a full decade of helping people discover and invest in one of Southeast Asia’s most promising tropical destinations.
My goal has never changed: to show the world that Cambodia and its remarkable Khmer people are not just welcoming — they are world-class partners — and that Koh Rong offers the perfect blend of paradise living and strong, sustainable investment potential.
