  • How do I get to Koh Rong? The only way to get to Koh Rong is by ferry service, as there is no airport as yet, or bridge. You have 5 different ferry companies operating from Sihanoukville to Koh Rong. You can take a Khmer taxi boat from the main Koh Rong piers and go anywhere on the island. 
  • What is the Cambodian currency? The official currency in Cambodia is Riel, but prices are usually indicated in US dollars. ATMs typically have both currencies. Keep your USD notes in perfect condition as many places will not take a damaged bill.
  • What is Koh Rong weather like? Koh Rong has a tropical climate, with a range of temperatures that vary throughout the year. You can have day temperatures from October to April around 30 °C (86 °F) in the cooler months to a warm 34 °C (94 °F) for the rest of the year.
  • What are the beaches like? Koh Rong has 28 beaches and around 43 kilometers of sand The beaches are tropical and come with a variety of colors, including white, beige, and rose. The main beach areas tourists flock to are, Long Set Beach, Sok San Beach (aka Long Beach), Lonely Beach, Coconut Beach & Palm Beach.
  • What is the real estate market like? The real estate market on Koh Rong is on the rebound since the lock down years. The island is expanding and developing at a consistent rate and there are quite a few projects in design and permits stages. The property market has a lot of interest from Khmer nationals and foreign investors.
  • What is the nightlife like? Koh Rong Nightlife includes many bars and restaurants, and beach parties are popular. The Full Moon Party is a monthly event that attracts party-goers from around the world. There is always something to do on Koh Rong.
  • What about mosquitoes? Mosquitoes are a thing on the island, although mainly in the jungle areas, so you should buy some mosquito repellent (yes its is available to buy on the island). 
  • Koh Rong medical facilities? Medical facilities are limited, but there are 3 main locations to get assistance. Koh Touch Village, Sok San Village & Long Set Pub Street all have medical facilities and there is also an ambulance boat that can be called in an emergency.
  • Is there an ATM on the island? There is currently no ATM’s on the island, but the first one is earmarked for Koh Tui Village in the future.   • What about getting around? The island has concrete roads that covers most of the island. You can hire tuk tuks or rent a motorbike to get to most places. You can also rent a taxi boat to any part of the island. The infrastructure & services have greatly improved over the last few years.
  • Does the island have electricity? Yes, Koh Rong is connected to the grid (so to speak) and has an under sea cable connection from the mainland. After many years of generator power, Koh Rong is now developing into a livable island.
  • Is there Wi-Fi on Koh Rong? Yes, most hotels and guesthouses have Wi-Fi. I would suggest to buy a Cambodian sim card (Smart , Cellcard or Metfone) for roughly $2 and add an internet package for a week or month and be connected everywhere you go.. It is very cheap to get set up.
  • Is Koh Rong Property a foreign business? Koh Rong Property is managed by Brad King, an Australian licensed real estate agent (REIQ) that has been full time on Koh Rong Island since 2016. We are the first and only real estate agency on the island and we have also developed bespoke construction projects all over Koh Rong.
  • How to get a Cambodian Visa? If you are coming on holiday you can get a Cambodia Visa on arrival that is valid for 30 days. When you come through immigration you can choose a tourist visa or a business visa, that can upgraded to a 12 month business visa once you have obtained a work permit. Cambodia has very simple visa requirements including retirement visas that you renew every 12 months.
  • Can a Foreigner own land on Koh Rong? Under foreign ownership regulations, the simple answer is no, but you can own property via a company or nominee. You can also lease land for 50 years and the majority of property owners will agree to that setup, at the current land market price for that area.
