What Is The Best Cambodian Bank To Open An Account?
There are quite a few choices for banking in Cambodia, but in my opinion no bank comes close to ABA Bank in terms of ease of use & their mobile app.
Being a member of National Bank of Canada Group, ABA Bank is Cambodia’s leading banking institution founded in 1996 as the Advanced Bank of Asia Limited.
If you are setting up a company, their Company Accounts are easy to use and if you are just wanting a general savings account with a debit card, you can also connect to all of your banking with their mobile app, which in my opinion is second to none.
You can send & receive money from your bank accounts anywhere in the world and nearly all businesses from small shops on Koh Rong to major retailers nationwide accept payment easily by scanning a QR code.
As there are no banks or ATM’s on Koh Rong currently, this is an easier option for you if you run out of cash. Nearly all of the local shops have an ABA mobile account.
If you are moving to Koh Rong, I would suggest opening an account in Sihanoukville for ease of use, as it is only a 30 minute boat ride away and all of the staff speak English & Chinese.
To open an account you will need your passport with at least 6 months validity, a 1 year visa and a small deposit.
In some instances clients of ours have also been asked for a copy of your rental agreement & proof of employment, so I would suggest going into the main branch in Sihanoukville & asking at the customer service section.
